Today, we’ll be exploring Tangier, often referred to as the “Bride of the North,” where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. After being ruled by different empires over the years, the city has a rich historical background. Consequently, it has a mix of cultures, traditions, and architectural styles.
Our exploration includes visits to the famous landmarks, starting with the legendary Caves of Hercules, famously resembling the shape of Africa. A natural and historical wonder with two openings, one facing the land and the other facing the sea. Following this, we’ll make our way to Cap Spartel, home to a lighthouse built in 1864 that offers stunning views overlooking the ocean. After that, we’ll traverse the Rif Mountains to the blue city of Chefchaouen.
After a tasty breakfast, step out for a whole day of discovery in Chefchaouen, also called ‘Achaoun,’ which means ‘the horns’ in Berber. Imagine yourself in a blue world where every wall and door is painted with the sky color. And each step takes you deeper into a place of calm and beauty.
As you wander through the medina visit the famous landmarks of the city. First, the Place Outa El Hammam, the central plaza. Also visit the ancient Kasbah, a significant fortress with red walls that dates back to the 15th century. And make sure to explore Ras El Ma and other sites as well.
In the afternoon, why not hike up to the Spanish mosque? It’s on a top hill, offering panoramic views of the entire blue city. After taking in the vistas, return to your hotel, relax, and recharge for another day of exploration ahead.
Following breakfast, we’ll drive toward Fes, the oldest city in Morocco. Keep an eye out for the Moroccan countryside with its natural splendor as we make our way to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. A historical place with remnants of the Roman empire dates back to the 3rd century BC. It’s also an important archaeological site recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, we’ll make our way to Meknes, also known as the Ismaili capital or the Versailles of Morocco.
Once we get to Meknes, we’ll be exploring its prominent landmarks. Firstly, the impressive Bab Mansour Gate, built by Moulay Ismail. We’ll also pay a visit to the majestic Royal Stables, the Sahrij Souani basin, and the magnificent Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. We’ll then continue toward Fes for a relaxing overnight stay.
On the 5th day of your Morocco 2 weeks itinerary after breakfast, you’ll have the entire day to explore the imperial city of Fes. Your knowledgeable local guide will lead you through the winding alleys, where vibrant colors and an array of goods brimming in every corner.
Your guided tour starts with a visit to the seven doors of the Royal Palace adorned with copper, marble, and mosaics. Finally, visit the historic Al Quaraouiyine, the oldest university in the world, founded by the visionary Fatima Al Fihri. In the afternoon, we’ll drive to Borj Sud to enjoy some panoramic views of the entire Medina of Fes.
After breakfast, we’ll traverse the middle Atlas Mountains to Ifrane. A beautiful town known as the Switzerland of Morocco for its Swiss architecture and cool climate. Especially magical when covered in snow during winter. Continuing our desert adventure, we’ll head to the Cedar Forest of Azrou. We’ll take a short break to see the Barbary macaques and take some fun photos with them while enjoying the area’s nature.
After that, we hit the road again to Midelt, where we stop for a satisfying lunch. After lunch, we’ll drive along the verdant Ziz valley, making our way to Merzouga via Erfoud. In the afternoon, we reach Merzouga desert, where your camels awaits to take you on a nomadic experience. Mount your camel and ride across the golden dunes, enjoying the desert scenery. As the sun begins to set, a stop will be made to climb a high dune and witness one of magical sunset you’ll ever see.
Upon arriving at your desert camp, you’ll be greeted with a cup of tea as gesture for hospitality. Take some time to relax and get ready for dinner. The day ends with a party around the fire, listening to Berber music played by nomads, under a sky full of stars.
Next, we’ll journey onward to Mifis Mines. This place has historical significance, previously serving as a site for kohl mining , a traditional cosmetic used for eye lining.Our desert tour extends to a visit with a nomadic Berber family, gaining a deep understanding of their way of life. Imagine sipping tea within their woven tent, listening to stories of their nomadic experiences.
For lunch, you might choose to savor the flavors of Medfouna (Berber pizza) at a local diner. After that, we’ll turn back to Merzouga. By late afternoon, if you seek more adventure, consider quad biking or buggy driving. Alternatively, for tranquility you can take a pleasant walk to the adjacent dunes, which is a perfect choice.
Rise early to admire the breathtaking sunrise over the spectacular golden dunes and enjoy a delicious breakfast. You’ll have the choice to either ride a camel or a 4×4 vehicle back to Merzouga. Our next destination is the historic town of Rissani, once the capital of Tafilalet, which hosts a vibrant souk three days a week.
Afterward, we’ll drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad on the way to the Todra Gorges, carved by the winding Todra River. Take a moment to explore these majestic towering red cliff formations, offering an ideal landscape for rock climbers.
After that, we’ll continue to Dades Valley, renowned for its stunning green valleys and uniquely shaped rock formations. We’ll make a quick stop at the “Monkey Fingers” at Tamelalt before heading to your accommodation for the night.
This morning, we’ll drive from Dades Valley to explore the charming town of Kalaat M’gouna. The locals love the spring season and celebrate with a rose festival held every May. Next, we’ll traverse the vast palm groves of Skoura, enjoying the natural splendor of the landscape. Here in Skoura, you’ll visit the historic fortified Kasbah of Amridil, an ancient fort that represents the Berber heritage and dates back to the 17th century.
Afterwards, our journey leads us to the captivating city of Ouarzazate, also referred to as the Hollywood of Morocco. Along the way, we pause briefly to admire the timeless allure of the 17th-century Kasbah of Taourirt, capturing some memorable photos. For film enthusiasts, you can request that your guide to stop for an optional visit to the renowned Atlas Studio, one of the largest film studios globally.
After that, we then head towards the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, a legendary village steeped in fame as the backdrop for epic cinematic movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After lunch, we drive through the winding Tizi N’tichka pass (2260 meters). Enjoying the breathtaking views of the majestic High Atlas Mountains. Finally, we arrive in Marrakech, overnight in a cozy riad.
Today, after breakfast, you’ll be exploring Marrakech, or amur n akush, which means Land of God in Berber. Your expert local guide will show you the must-see historical and cultural landmarks of the city. The visit includes: the famous Koutoubia Mosque, built in the 12th century, as well as the Saadian tombs, the Bahía Palace, and the renowned Ben Youssef Quranic Madrasa.
As you stroll through the souks of Medina, you can look for the perfect souvenirs to take home and admire the craftsmanship and variety of the goods on display. From there, we head to Essaouira, a UNESCO-listed Medina, renowned for its delicacy seafood and picturesque beaches. We’ll visit the fishing port, where you’ll see a fleet of blue boats and fishermen doing their daily routine. For those seeking adventure, horseback or quad biking along the sandy coastline is an exhilarating option. After a day filled with discoveries, we’ll transfer you to your hotel for a well-deserved overnight.
Today, after a delicious breakfast. Take your last stroll, wandering through the narrow streets of the UNESCO-listed old Medina. Known for its whitewashed buildings, blue doors, and amazing art scene. You can browse through local shops selling handicrafts, jewelry, and textiles. After that, we’ll leave Essaouira and make our way to Casablanca along the scenic coastline. Offering picturesque views along the way. Once we reach Casablanca, you’ll be transferred to your hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, which stands majestically with the second tallest minaret in the world (210 m). After that we drive to Rabat Capital, a unique city for being the only coastal imperial city in Morocco, offering a unique blend of history and culture. First we’ll visit the majestic Hassan Tower and the nearby tomb of Mohamed V, both showcasing the exquisite Moroccan architecture. Following this, the Kasbah of Udayas, which provides some spectacular views of the Bouregreg River.
After lunch, we’ll hit the road again for Asilah, a charming coastal town known for its charming beauty. From stunning beaches to whitewashed architecture and a lively art scene. Finally, check into your hotel for a restful overnight stay.
