The 7 day Morocco desert tour starts with a pick up at Marrakech Menara Airport. Your driver from My Moroccan Tours will be there to pick you up you to your accomodation.
After that, youll have a guided tour showing the must-see historical and cultural landmarks of the city. The visit includes: the famous Koutoubia Mosque, built in the 12th century, as well as the Saadian tombs, the Bahía Palace, and the renowned Ben Youssef Quranic Madrasa.
As you stroll through the souks of Medina, you can look for the perfect souvenirs to take home and admire the craftsmanship and variety of the goods on display. In the evening, enjoy free time to stroll independently around Djemaa el-Fna Square, a dynamic center brimming with street theater, storytellers, snake charmers, and magicians. This morning we start driving to Ait Ben Haddou, passing through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260m), with stops to take photos and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Atlas Mountains.
After that, we then head towards the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, a legendary village steeped in fame as the backdrop for epic cinematic movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones, and many others. Then we head toward Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Morocco.
After having lunch in Ouarzazate, we continue through Boumalne Dades along the Road of Kasbahs and the large palm groves of Skoura to your accommodation, where you will enjoy dinner and spend the night in a nice hotel overlooking the beautiful valley.
After a delicious breakfast, we continue driving through the Dades Valley, known for its verdant valleys and red rock formations. Along the way, we’ll stop to behold the stunning rock formations of the “Monkey fingers”. Afterwards, we’ll drive on the Road of 1000 Kasbah towards Todra Gorges. Towering limestone-red cliffs, reaching up to 300 meters high.
After that, we hit on the road of 1000 kasbahs, passing through the palm groves and many Berber villages such as Tinejdad and Touroug. By the afternoon, we reach Merzouga Desert, and there, your camels stand ready to take on a true nomadic experience. Ride your camel and traverse the golden dunes of Merzouga. As sunset approaches, a pause will be made for you to witness one of the most beautiful sunsets in your life.
After enjoying the sunset, continue to your desert camp, relax in your tent, and prepare for a delicious evening meal. Finally, the day ends with a party night by the fire, listening to the melodies of Berber drums performed by nomads.
Wake up early is recommended to watch the sun rising over the dunes. After enjoying breakfast then the 6th day of your 7 day tour of Morocco begins, our first stop? The Khamlia, where locals practice Gnawa folklore, originating from South African countries. Prepare to be enchanted by the soulful melodies of Gnawa music and their traditional dances.
Afterwards, the journey takes us on an off-road trip to Mifis, a historical site formerly known as a kohl mining site. Here, discover the secrets of this ancient eye cosmetic, commonly used as eyeliner. Subsequently, we’ll visit an authentic nomadic family to discover their traditional lifestyle under a hand-woven tent. Enjoy a warm cup of tea with them as you learn about their daily routine.
Following this, it’s on to Khamlia where you can taste the flavors of Medfouna (Berber pizza). Finally, check into your hotel to complete the day. By late afternoon, if you feel adventurous, you can partake in quad biking or buggy driving.
This morning, we continue to Fes passing through Erfoud a desert town known for its fossils. We’ll visit a fossil manufactory to discover regional fossil finds. After that, we drive along the Ziz Valley, enjoying the beautiful palm groves, and stop for lunch in the town of Midelt. After lunch, we head towards Azrou and we’ll make a stop at the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaques. Don’t miss the chance to take some memorable photos with these adorable creatures while enjoying the natural surrounding.
Next, we’ll drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains to Ifrane, known as the “ little Switzerland of Morocco.” With its charming Swiss architecture and coul climate. Finally, we arrive at Fes your driver will transfer you to your accommodation.
After breakfast, you’ll have a guided tour to uncover the oldest imperial city of Fes with a knowledgeable local guide. Strolling through the streets of Medina, where each twist and turn showcases local craftsmanship, textiles, and Berber rugs. Every corner promises a new and exciting encounter to captivate your senses.
